WHY IT’S IMPORTANT TO SUPPORT MENA WOMEN IN TECH
Majority of Computer sciences in most countries in MENA region are female vs. 20% in the US
3,500 female students are studying computing at one university in Saudi Arabia (a total population of
30 million) – and yet the US has only 10,000 female graduates each year in computing
Many talented female graduates seek scholarships but in most countries these opportunities are rare and often given to men
The MENA region has many high skilled female computer technology graduates and postgraduates – but many are unemployed
Women in Tech in MENA win more than 40% of prestigious Tech competitions including entrepreneurship competition
The opportunity to hire skilled employees is great
The opportunity to promote and sell technology in parts of the region is high
Tech companies are active– hiring, gaining mindshare, and selling high-tech is emerging
